With the Blue Ridge Mountains just out our back door, we are within an hour and a half of year round activities for the whole family. Think Asheville, Blowing Rock, Boone. Boating in the summer, snow skiing in the winter, fishing, hiking... the list goes on. Charlotte International Airport is an easy drive from Hickory for travelers coming and going. There's plenty to do locally, too!

I grew up on the central coast of California in Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea. My oldest son settled in NC after his tour of duty in the Army and said how much he loved it here and how friendly the people were. He talked me into taking a midlife adventure to check it out. That was 17 years ago and I've never looked back once.
